Dr Paul D’Alton

Paul is Head of the Department of Psychology at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin and Associate Professor at the School of Psychology, University College Dublin.  He is founder and Co-Director of the MSc in Mindfulness Based Interventions at UCD, having himself trained in Mindfulness based interventions at the Oxford and at the University of Massachusetts (USA) where mindfulness-based interventions in healthcare originated.

Paul completed his clinical psychology training in Trinity College in 2004 and has worked as a clinical psychologist, educator, and researcher since this time.  He is a Fellow and past President of the Psychological Society of Ireland.

He teaches on several post-graduate programmes at University College Dublin, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Trinity College Dublin.  He has completed a number of funded research projects and is frequently invited to speak at scientific gatherings nationally and internationally.  He has published several book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles.  

Paul is a regular contributor to newspaper, radio and television including RTE Radio One’s Drivetime with Mary Wilson.    Paul lives in Dublin, is a committed cyclist and a reasonable cook
